CD Cover Meme

Here is my CD cover meme. Thanks Donna for the idea.

The rules are:
1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:RandomThe first article title on the page is the name of your band.
2. http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.
3. http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

Here is my attempt:

Dinner in the Sky

As an ELA teacher, I am constantly pushing my students to think outside of the box. Be creative. Go against the norm. Take the path less followed. You get the idea. Well, one of them emailed me this and asked if this was outside of the box enough.

Now, how can we get our students to think like this when they are posed with a problem or speed bump?

Wow, risk takers eating lobster tail. I for one would love to try this.

Office Sign :: Digital Citizenship National Headquarters

I am doing a presentation to my teaching staff on digital citizenship.  Our school already uses Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe as the basis of our PBIS Matrix.  I have decided to follow along with school philosophy and add in the digital aspect.

I would like to add in Be Accountable.  However, in my research I noticed I will be adding in many more concepts like:

Loyalty
Empathy
Trust
etc.

I would love any suggestions, videos, links or disagreements that are out there.  Here is my presentation wiki for the presentation.

I'm Sorry Drupal

Earlier in my blogs I expressed my frustrations with the Drupal Content Management system.  Those frustrations came soley from the user friendly perspective.

I am the in-school technology advisior and administrator of our web site.  I realize now that in that position, I need to know a little more than "user friendly" application.  I had a staff member show me how easy some of my frustration could be eleviated if I just spent a little more time and focus on the site. (Thanks Brian)

I am now much more confident and realize that the information out on Drupal is great, user friendly and informative.  Nevermind the infastructure in my own division that I had forgot about. (Thanks Donna)

So, sorry to Drupal and thank you to all those who help make technology easy to use and understand.

Twitter in Plain English

I have fallen in love with twitter. I only wish more people I already know were on it.  There are very few current aquantences on twitter.  I see endless possiblilities of using this program as a professional tool.  The ability to access others in your PLC instantly or allow others with common interests in the teaching world to see what you are doing and choose to reply, help, add, revise, etc. to what you are doing.

If you are not already on twitter, sign up now!!!  And be sure to add eldongermann to your list.

Another bonus to twitter is twirl.  Twirl will allow you to twit instantlly without having another window up.

Macklin School Web Site + Drupal = FRUSTRATION

Macklin School | Educating Today for a Better Tomorrow

I have thoroughly enjoyed my learning curve this year with regards to technology. I have never learned this much or felt confident in what I have learned in this short of time. However, I am struggling with my new school web site.

Our new site is a Drupal. What does this mean? A drupal site is much like a wiki in that it allows multiple users to access and edit what is on the website along with create their own web pages.

My problem is formatting. I am slowly learning the "Drupal Ropes", thanks to Donna Desroche. My staff, however, have struggled with basic formatting that is easily found on wikispaces and microsoft. If anyone knows any tricks or websites to refer to, please let me know, my staff and I would greatly appreciate some help
